What Works Require Party Wall Notice?

The Party Wall etc. Act 1996 applies to works including building on or at the boundary of two properties, excavating within 3 or 6 metres of an adjoining building, and works directly to a party wall such as cutting in for beams, raising or underpinning a party wall. If you are planning any of these works, you are required to serve a party wall notice on your neighbour. Structural engineering input is often needed to support the technical aspects of the party wall process.
