Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the provision of structural engineering services by Offset Engineering.

By instructing Offset Engineering, the client agrees to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Services

Services may include:

  • Structural calculations
  • Structural surveys
  • Structural reports
  • Temporary works design
  • Residential structural engineering
  • Commercial structural engineering
  • Site inspections
  • Engineering consultations

3. Quotations

All quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

Any additional work requested beyond the agreed scope may be subject to additional fees.

4. Payment Terms

Invoices are payable within 7 days unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Offset Engineering reserves the right to suspend work where payments remain outstanding.

5. Client Responsibilities

The client shall:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Provide access to the property where required
  • Supply available drawings and relevant documents
  • Inform us of any changes affecting the project

6. Site Visits

Site visits are visual inspections only unless otherwise agreed.

No opening-up works, intrusive investigations or specialist testing are included unless specifically stated within the quotation.

7. Structural Reports

Reports are prepared solely for the instructed client and project.

No third party may rely upon our reports without written permission.

8. Design Responsibility

Structural designs are based upon the information provided and conditions observed at the time of inspection.

If site conditions differ from those assumed within the design, Offset Engineering must be notified immediately before construction proceeds.

9. Building Regulations

Unless specifically stated, Building Control approval, planning permission and party wall matters remain the responsibility of the client.

10. Limitation of Liability

Our liability shall be limited to the value of the fee paid for the services provided unless otherwise required by law.

Offset Engineering shall not be liable for indirect, consequential or economic losses.

11. Intellectual Property

All reports, calculations, drawings and documents remain the intellectual property of Offset Engineering until payment has been received in full.

12. Cancellations

Site visits cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be subject to a cancellation charge.

Where an engineer has already travelled to site, the site visit fee may become non-refundable.

13. Complaints

Any complaints should be submitted in writing.

We will investigate and respond within a reasonable period.

14. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
